ALISTAIR DAWES

F

ollowing his B.Mus degree at Nottingham University, Alistair trained at the London Opera Centre before being invited to join the Music Staff of The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Here Alistair worked with the world’s greatest performers and assisted the most renowned conductors. His profound and detailed knowledge of the operatic and vocal repertoire has led him to his present position of internationally acclaimed conductor & coach.

Travelling widely in his career – both within Europe, and to Scandinavia, Iceland, Japan, Korea, South Africa, America & New Zealand – Alistair has collaborated with the world’s leading Opera Companies, conducting numerous operas including Tosca, La bohème, Il trittico, La traviata, Albert Herring, Peter Grimes, The Rape of Lucretia, The War Requiem, Rigoletto, Nabucco, Figaro, Così fan Tutte, Don Giovanni, Die Zauberflöte, Das Rheingold, Die Walküre, Chérubin, Werther & Evgeny Onegin.

Working with world-renowned artists in Italian, French, English, German, Russian & Czech, Alistair made his Royal Opera House, Covent Garden conducting début in 1994 with Massenet’s Chérubin. Subsequent performances at the ROH have included Così fan Tutte and Peter Grimes. With a repertoire encompassing the works of Handel to those of contemporary composers, Alistair frequently acts as repertoire coach and accompanist, working with international stars as well as with emerging artists (currently with the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at Covent Garden).
